Our first 3 weeks of school have been incredible! We are beginning to get into our routines and have started a lot of academic work. In writing, we are beginning to work on our narratives. The students have just chosen a "small moment" to write about and we are working on how to add sensory details. In math, we are already wrapping up topic one (multiplication review) and we will have our assessment next week. Every single student has been working so hard!
This week, we focused on team building and did a couple of very fun activities. In our first, the class was split up into small groups and they had to build the highest tower possible that would stand on it's own with 20 Popsicle sticks and clay. It was a challenge, but every single group took it on. They persevered, communicated and worked together. Our second activity was called the human knot. Ask your child to explain this one! We have begun our rotations for Science, Social Studies and Engineering. In Social Studies, we started our first unit on Immigration. Many of you may have seen the homework assignment. The class is very excited to learn more about the history of their families. I hope to meet many of you at the open house next week! .Sincerely, Mrs. Graham
